Dorset: Sea Kayaking Rough Water Handling
Ready for your next step? Then join us in Dorset for a sea kayaking rough water handling weekend. We will gently encourage you to stretch those boundaries and start dipping your paddle into progressively rough water. Each day we will decide as a group what headway we wish to make and then begin developing your sea kayak handling skills to help you realize the potential for not only paddling in, but having fun in rough water. Anything from turning in big swell &wind, downwind runs, manoeuvring along a rocky coastline full of clapotis, surf launches & landings to rock hopping.
What to expect from this Sea kayak weekend?
We will meet up in the morning and talk through the groups Sea Kayaking experience. Following from this we will check the weather and tides. Together we will then plan our journey on the Jurassic Coast to meet the groups abilities and aspirations. You will need to bring lunch as this will be taken during the day in a stunning location. The aim is not to cover huge miles but to develop your sea kayaking skills in a progressively dynamic environment. Depending on the conditions we may look at boat handling in swell, navigating surf or some fun rocky landings. Whatever we end up doing you are sure to have fun, see some spectacular scenery and develop as a sea kayaker.
Previous experience and feeling confident in a sea kayak in small waves 1 meter and light winds up to 3.3 m/s or F3 would be ideal for this course. The need to roll is not necessary but the ability to be assisted back into your kayak would be handy. 🙂
